The Full Standard Game

Learn how to play the complete street golf experience

Game Overview

The full standard street golf game combines the strategy of traditional golf with the urban environment. Players take turns calling out landmarks and hole locations, creating a dynamic course that changes with each round. Scoring is similar to traditional golf.

How to Play

  1. 1

    Call the Target

One player calls out a landmark down the street (light pole, parked car, tree, etc.) and describes the approximate distance and direction from that landmark to where the hole should be placed.

  2. 2

    Start Playing

Play begins like regular golf, but with covered iron shots taken directly off the street surface rather than from a tee. No tee required!

  3. 3

    Set the Hole

When a player gets within range of the proposed hole location, that player walks out and sets or gently backhand flings the hole to the agreed-upon location.

  4. 4

    Finish and Continue

Once all players have holed out, a new player calls the location of the next hole down the street. The game continues with fresh challenges!

Multiple Holes & Team Play

Set holes at several locations along a street to allow play back and forth between holes. After finishing at one hole, move it to provide a new challenge when playing back in that direction. Multiple holes also open up exciting team play options and tournament formats.

Safety First

Always play on quiet streets with minimal traffic. Be aware of your surroundings, respect private property, and ensure all players maintain a safe distance during shots. Street golf is most enjoyable when everyone stays safe!

Urban Golf Game in Parks

Watch a 3-hole Urban Golf game played in public parks, featuring real street golf gameplay, creative shots, and urban obstacles.

Hole 1: Local Park Court ⛳ Par 3 | Urban Golf in the Park

A demonstration of a Street Golf Par 3 setup. This video highlights the use of a portable flat-target 'hole,' allowing for play on hard surfaces like concrete courts. Notice how the player transitions between paved surfaces and natural grass hazards, finishing with a putt on the concrete 'green'.

Hole 2: Light Pole ⛳ Par 3 | Urban Golf in the Park

A tight Par 3 that requires a low trajectory off the tee to avoid the tree canopy. This video demonstrates a common street golf scramble: recovering from the grass after hitting a branch, chipping onto a narrow sidewalk, and putting out on a paved path.

Hole 3: Light Pole to Light Pole ⛳ Par 3 | Urban Golf in the Park

This hole features a long, winding sidewalk path. The video highlights a unique Street Golf hazard: the "pavement drop-off." On Stroke 3, the putt carries too much speed and falls off the sidewalk edge into a crack.
